Preparation of a forest management plan

A forest management plan provides the forest owner with a clear overview of the state of forest resources and recommendations for managing the forest over the next ten years. The plan is drawn up on the basis of good forestry practice and in compliance with all applicable laws and requirements.

A forest management plan contains all the information a forest owner needs to know about their forest.

The plan includes:

a plan for forest management works;
compartment survey description;
summary tables characterising the forest;
an overview of recommended cuttings
a list of regeneration and improvement cuttings;
information on nature conservation restrictions applicable to the forest;
restrictions arising from legislation.

A forest management plan can only be prepared by a licensed forest surveyor, who is authorised to enter the completed plan into Metsaportaal. We hold an activity licence for carrying out forest survey activities (licence No. KME000020).

To prepare the plan, the forest surveyor carries out the necessary observations and measurements in the forest. Based on the data obtained, a forest management plan is drawn up for the next ten years.

The cost of preparing a forest management plan depends on the size and location of the immovable.
